Bank of America Banks on AWEE
With all the talk about the credit crunch and the troubled state of
the economy, we sometimes forget about the variety of ways banks make
essential contributions to community life. Nowhere is this more evident
than in the case of the Bank of America Arizona, which has been
actively supporting our community, both directly through its employee
volunteer programs and financially via the Bank of America Charitable
Foundation.
This national and regional
banking leader has now recognized AWEE's comprehensive, holistic
approach to workforce development by awarding us a $60,000 grant to
support our programs during the 2008 fiscal year. This generous
donation is a clear demonstration of our shared commitment to help
every individual find meaningful work and become a stakeholder in
Arizona's economic future.
"We're pleased and proud to support AWEE in its mission to help
Arizona's families better their lives by achieving financial
independence and economic stability," said Kellie Manthe, Market
Development Officer for Bank of America Arizona. "This remarkable
organization addresses not only education and training, but also the
full range of social services needed to ensure that families are
healthy, safe and secure. These are not glamorous issues, but they are
integral to AWEE's record of success in transforming lives and
communities."
Bank of America is in its fourth year of achieving an unprecedented
10-year goal to donate $1.5 billion to nonprofit organizations engaged
in improving the health and vitality of their neighborhoods. Funded by
Bank of America, its Charitable Foundation will give more than $225
million in 2008, making it the most generous financial institution in
the world and the second largest donor of all U.S. corporations in cash
contributions.
AWEE relies on the generosity of corporate donors like Bank of America
to fund our programs and help us meet the needs of the growing number
of Arizonans who come to us seeking good jobs and secure futures. We
sincerely thank them for their generous support and commend them for
playing such a positive role both nationally and in our Arizona
communities.
